about

Jim Gelcer, drums, and Paul (Poli) Hoffert, piano, are well known on the Toronto music scene. Gelcer, a yoga master, kirtan artist, and film composer, has led his own eponymous jazz bands, played drums with the Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band, and toured as a keyboardist with Lee Aaron. Hoffert had his first jazz album released when he was sixteen and is an award winning film composer. His band Lighthouse, one of the earliest fusion jazz ensembles, has many gold and platinum recordings and has performed at the Newport, Monterey, Boston, and Toronto jazz festivals as well as Carnegie Hall.

Gelcer and Hoffert worked together in China on a Harvard University music project and decided to start a jazz trio when they returned to North America in 2008.

Thematic threads:
* MELODY: piano bass & drums play melody in unison
* MASHUPS: several songs integrated into a single new songs
* MONK: Gelcer and Hoffert pay homage to Thelonious
